BlockHopper Now Available! :D 02/14/2012

by Joe

Well, it’s about time! BlockHopper is now available on the App Store! :D Get it now and beat and make some levels! Please check out BlockHopper’s website (http://blockhopper.greenpixel.ca), too! :D

The Flash version is also on its way!

Here’s the press release:

February 14, 2012 – Brand-spankin’ new Canadian indie developer, Green Pixel (http://www.greenpixel.ca), has released their first iOS title, BlockHopper! With a lifetime of gaming experience under their belts, Rich and Joe (programming and art, respectively) are proud to announce their retro, side-scrolling, puzzle experience that all gamers will enjoy as much as they do!

As the lovable and optimistic robot, Bit, you must make your way through the perilous, challenging, robot-killing levels of a human-less planet. Luckily, Bit is programmed to upload special Blocks into the world around it! Got ice in your way? No problem! Place a Fire Block to melt the ice and clear the path! Platform too high? Psh! Place a Moving Block to carry you! Alien Lasers giving you trouble? Puh-lease! Drop a Crystal Block to protect you! This may all sound easy, but you’re going to need all your side-scrolling and puzzle-solving skills to beat all 35 levels that Green Pixel has created.

35 levels not enough for you? Glad to hear it! BlockHopper allows you to download and play potentially countless user-created levels from around the world! When you’re feeling some level design inspiration yourself, BlockHopper comes with a full-fledged level editor for you to flex your creative and puzzle-making muscles. Design, test, and upload your levels and add to the endless playability of BlockHopper!

Featuring tight controls, old-school pixel-art graphics, incredible music from Starship Amazing (http://www.starshipamazing.com), and witty banter that only a chipper, “life”-loving robot could spout, BlockHopper is waiting for you to play and create!

Available now!

Oh, and if you’ve read this far, thank you and I leave you with our next game title: The Pocalypse Defense 2! :D
(Happy Valentine’s Day, too! Go eat some chocolate while you play BlockHopper :D)

@Delta-Pangaea – Will do! :D Just putting the finishing touches on it!

Joe on February 14, 2012 at 11:06 am

well done joe… hey, y cant i play the flash?
btw, does this mean comics will b out faster?

d-man on February 14, 2012 at 1:16 pm

Joe,

Are you guys planning on releasing to the Android marketplace as well eventually? I’d love to play blockhopper, but I have an LG Enlighten. Just food for thought I guess. Love the comic still. Keep it up.

MECHHavik on February 14, 2012 at 3:29 pm

NICE! will you be making future battle scenes in this format as well?

NeoWarrior on February 14, 2012 at 7:56 pm

@d-man – We’re finishing up the Flash now and I’ll let you all know when we’re done :D Then, you’ll be able to make levels on your computer too! As for the scenes, I always strive to get them done on a regular schedule, but it depends on other projects (which are Pocalypse-related :D) and the complexity of the day’s scene.
@MECHHavik – It’s not planned for the immediate future yet, but I’d like to have an Android version of BlockHopper made one day! :D
@NeoWarrior – Heh heh glad you liked it, but I think this format is just a one-time thing for BlockHopper :D But, who knows? The assets are there and I may use them again!

I like the Portal reference. Portal references are always awesome :D (expect the cake jokes)

Part of me wonders if we’ll see Bit in the comic. But the other part realizes he’s probably made for just this game.

X on February 15, 2012 at 2:22 am

ALONZO on February 15, 2012 at 8:36 am

@X – Maybe Bit will make a cameo one day! :D

Joe on February 15, 2012 at 9:43 pm

@X&Joe – Maybe Bit is a machine that allies with The Pocast?

Just found this Webcomic/animation today and took all day watching it. It even kept me from playing WoW (Yes, I’m a WoWhead and anyone that’s ever been addicted to it knows it takes a LOT to keep someone from playing). Love it. Also, Joe, if you’re still having the typing issues, you have to learn to trust yourself, and learn your keyboard mostly. I use about 3 fingers per hand, but I know the keyboard and rarely look at it when I’m typing unless I hit a series of wrong keys, because then my hands are away from their “resting” position when I start typing. Just a piece of advice for you, and it works for me. I type 65 WPM. Or at least I did when I was in school.

Awesomeness Joe! Now you’ll be even more famous since blockhopper is an app!
