Goodbye OSX! | October 28, 2016

by Joe

After 6 years with my trusty Macbook Pro (every The Pocalypse scene has been made on it!), I’m moving back to good ol’ Windows! I remember getting the MBP when I was living abroad and needed a powerful, yet portable work machine. PC laptop power was there but portability wasn’t – gaming laptops were enormous, heavy bricks back then :D Nowadays, Macbooks are pretty weak and lackluster for the price and Windows gaming laptops have matched or surpassed Apple’s build quality, style, and power. The new Macbook Pros are a pretty good example – an insane price tag on a machine that doesn’t even have dedicated graphics (!) and a gimmicky and annoying-looking Touch Bar.

I will miss this machine though – The Pocalypse and my freelance career started on this thing and it’s still kicking!

Enjoy Scene 17 – “Haunted Base”!

I don’t know what’s going on, but this file plays way too slow.

okay wtf – after posting the comment and replaying the file because it wasn’t finished, everything runs smooth.

Hmmm,
Seems to be that a lot of plotpoints were concluded/cut off suddenly. I wonder where all of this leads.

“Nowadays, Macbooks are pretty weak and lackluster for the price” They were so six years ago too, I’d say if you couldn’t find something equal in a windows PC, you didn’t look very hard.

Anyhow, yes, the newly announced MacBook Pro is pretty much the most gimmicky thing on the market. I would suggest Zenbook. Beautiful PC’s Packing a good punch. If portability is the primary thing they have 12.5″ Zenbook three with an i7 and up to something around 16 Gb RAM. And an nVidia 940 mx.

If power is the priority they have that UX501 one with upto 32 GB RAM a quad core i7 (with hyperthreading it’s 8 threads) and an nVidia 960 GTX with upto 4 GB RAM. and a display that EASILY trumphs Apple’s retina displays.

@Luio Uhh, I hope not. I usually love the “Daryl” type of characters, but honestly Rusty is pretty boring, and I would have a hard time sympathizing with him even if he *has* a good reason for being a huge piece of work. And he did kill a lot of innocent people for no reason. (Nothing against Joe with this one, he probably wrote him this way intentionally.)

Hey Joe, what laptop are you getting now? If you haven’t decide it yet, I would recommend you the lenovo thinkpads with active pen, really useful when doing art and stuff like that :p

I advise detailing the specs you need and searching Newegg for anything matching those requirements, from any brand. I do hear good things about specific brands, but when you want to blend good price with a spec requirement, it’s best to look over everything that a third-party seller has to offer from any (relatively reputable) brand.
