Sorry it’s been quiet around here lately! The Pocalypse Defense 2 has taken the front seat and, unfortunately, The Pocalypse scenes have to move to the back temporarily. I’m not going to put the comic on hiatus or anything but I am predicting a pretty decent slowdown. Luckily, TPD2 production has an end in sight and the comic does not so The Pocalypse will one day take shotgun again :D (Is “shotgun” an international term? Here, we yell “Shotgun!” when we want to claim the front passenger set in a car :D)
Thank you to all the avid comic readers who are patiently putting up with this slowdown and I hope you can wait until October 9 for Chapter 8 to start :D
Why October 9? Two reasons:
1) It gives me time to create Chapter 8, Scene 1, while still keeping TPD2 production a priority.
2) StartOff voting begins and we are going to need your votes! Now, unless you paid very close attention to a previous blog post, you’re probably asking yourself, “What the heck is StartOff?”.
StartOff (http://www.startoff.ca) is an start-up entrepreneur contest being held by the Innovation Factory, a small business mentorship company based in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada (where Green Pixel is based!). In order to promote and reward local businesses, Innovation Factory is giving out some pretty awesome prize packs to those businesses that can gather the most votes during the StartOff competition. The top ten winners receive a $16,700-worth package of business-related services that will greatly help Rich and I take Green Pixel and The Pocalypse even further :D
I laughed to myself when we found out that the theme for StartOff was retro gaming and game art. While other competitors have to find creative ways to incorporate the theme into their voting campaign, I just have to keep doing what I’m doing! Pixels are my paint! Fortunately, the theme isn’t something like “Trees of the Amazon” or “Sauerkraut Sandwiches” so I guess we got lucky! We’re also very lucky to have an existing international, supportive, and amazingly incredible fanbase to pump Green Pixel full of votes :D
So! Remember that October 9 is the start of Chapter 8 and the start of StartOff voting! Thank you so much for waiting!
Oh, I also have to start selling these posters! More on that later! :D

In the UK “shotgun” is used when people want to claim pretty much anything. It annoys me as the term has overtaken the much more pleasant to say “bagsie”.
@bobsickle – I think it’s time to bring “bagsie” to Canada :D
How do you think of the pocalypse scenes? Do you have a paper or document with all your ideas written down for the next scene or do you think of scene ideas as you go?

I live in Utah, so of course we do it here. Fortunately, I don’t hear it often, since I don’t totally care where I sit as long as I’m not in the middle seat in a cramped car. XD Not only that, but I only have two younger sisters to worry about, so I automatically get it most of the time due to needing more room. If I don’t, I usually get a seat next to the window, which is just fine to me! Anyway, you certainly have my vote, especially if you would reply to my comments a little more often. In fact, maybe you should put in a “reply” system so we don’t have to type out the whole “@Joe” thing or whoever we are replying to and then have them not even notice it because they didn’t go back to see if someone replied. XD
So…how do I vote anyway? XD

But still, as long as it helps I look forward to the game, both seeing it pick up more readers as well as getting to play it. I really look forward to seeing this comic being as successful as it should be.
Where i’m from we usually don’t yell “Shotgun!” or the respective “Schießgewehr!”. Instead we shout “Schulz!” or participate in long discussions about it. Main arguments are long legs, fat asses and sharp elbows….or puppy eyes.
Although defense games are not my thing i’ll wait patiently for the next chapter. maybe you will finally reveal if Annika is Joes sister.
