The Pocalypse Defense 2 Needs YOU! :D 05/05/2012

by Joe

Finally an excuse to show my real face! :D

That’s right! Rich and I need your help in creating The Pocalypse Defense 2! We’ve started an Indiegogo campaign, which will last for 40 days. I have a lot of faith in our community, so I know we’ll make it! :D Please check out the Indiegogo page and please, please, please share it with everyone you know!

http://www.indiegogo.com/thepocalypsedefense2

Let’s make The Pocalypse Defense 2 happen and let’s create it together!

I’ve let the beast out, so now I can give Chapter 7 some more attention. Thanks for waiting while I worked on launching the campaign! New scene will be up soon! :D

How would be game delivered if I make donation on Indiegogo? Through email?

T on May 5, 2012 at 12:50 am

@T – Great question! Yes, we’ll keep track of every funder and we’ll send you an e-mail containing a link to the DRM-free release of TPD2 :D As for iPad, we’ll gift you a copy of the final game.

Joe on May 5, 2012 at 1:05 am

It’d be helpful if I could find a new donation bar. : (

Great site!

cwDeiciMellhurst on May 5, 2012 at 2:08 am

Will it be free when its released?

Brutalacid on May 5, 2012 at 2:28 am

Indiegogo? Why not Kickstarter. If I would ever make a game (which is in plan) I would surely try to get my funding from there. More known, which possibly mean more potential supporters. But it’s your choice :)
I checked the site, but I found the funding a bit weird. If I would be somehow insanely rich (which I am sadly not) and donate you a 1000$ than because it is stated there that all previous things apply I could be an npc, a hero and a boss at the same time? :/ How would that work out?

Anyways, good luck with this project. Wish I can support it, but I’m from Eastern Europe and I’m poor as heck :D Then again I thought this would be a free flash game like the first one. Now that I mentioned it, you might want to just simply leave the two from the title then, makes more sense from the marketing perspective and rename the flash game to Pocalypse defence Zero or something.

Otter on May 5, 2012 at 4:42 am

Why didn’t you use kickstarter? I think it would gain more notability than on indiegogo

Andre on May 5, 2012 at 5:53 am

Is the game going to be playable on a dell labtop?

Not going to say on May 5, 2012 at 6:51 am

@cwDeiciMellhurst – I replaced the donation bar with the Indiegogo campaign link for now :D I’d rather see your generous donations go towards The Pocalypse Defense 2! The donation bar will return when the campaign is over :D
@Brutalacid – No, sorry, it will not be free! You do get the game if you fund any tier, though! :D
@Otter & Andre – Yeah, Kickstarter was our first choice, but unfortunately, they don’t allow anyone without a US bank account to start a campaign. But, I believe the strength of a campaign comes from the project itself and the power of people sharing it! :D So, please spread the word!
As for the Big Boss Tier, yes, you would get all three – you would get an NPC sprite and a talking head for it for the game and the party scene, a Hero sprite and a talking head that would be different from the NPC (that we would discuss), and a boss that we design together, which would be much bigger and menacing than a sprite :D
@Not going to say – We don’t have the technical specs for you yet, but yes, but if you can play other 2D games on your laptop, it should be playable! :D

Joe on May 5, 2012 at 9:21 am

hey joe just wondering could you get tdp2 for ipod or the acer computer

edge on May 5, 2012 at 10:38 am

I can’t wait to donate! I’ll be doing at least 40 by June 1st at the latest!

Qozux on May 5, 2012 at 1:36 pm

first time ive seen him :D, and…where is your hat >=/

Undeademon on May 5, 2012 at 4:28 pm

I think that the post I left yesterday was heard.

Maybe I was too harsh? :|

Happy Vampire on May 5, 2012 at 7:14 pm

I would love to be one of the heros, but my parents would NEVER approve, they dont even know I watch this stuff.

Leinahtan on May 5, 2012 at 9:39 pm

@edge – If you can play most 2D games on your Acer and you have Windows running on it, then yes, it should work! It won’t be available on your iPod though, sorry! iPad only, since the screen is large :D
@Qozux – Thank you so much! :D
@Undeademon – Yes! First public appearance! :D I never wear hats ;D
@Happy Vampire – Haha! You were definitely heard! I’ve been working on the campaign for a whole week, so your comment was perfectly timed! :D
@Leinahtan – Let me know if you want me to e-mail your folks ;D

Joe on May 5, 2012 at 10:07 pm

I have made my little contribution already :D Not a lot (I’m a poor student XD) but I hope it’ll help :)

Biperfuture on May 5, 2012 at 11:12 pm

@Joe They don’t allow non US cards? Damn, that’s… discrimination. Well there goes my dreams I guess.

Otter on May 6, 2012 at 12:37 am

@Biperfuture – Thank you so much! :D
@Otter – Really? I’ll look into that! The campaign has received some funding via credit cards outside of the US already, so it shouldn’t be a problem. Hmm. I’ll get back to you as soon as possible :D Are you able to use PayPal?

Joe on May 6, 2012 at 1:02 am

rrrrrrrcomicsrrrr..

Happy Vampire on May 6, 2012 at 2:11 am

Man… I just wish I could help you with my debit card, since I have no credit card yet… Paypal isnt one to help me either (tried, not worked). I guess the best can do is wish you luck for now. Way to go by the way! A released game in several platforms will get you even more fans than usual :p

NeoWarrior on May 6, 2012 at 2:21 am

Yeah, I’d like to give some cash to this too, but I don’t have a direct means. Maybe I’ll set some of my personal cash aside and then ask someone for help… not sure if my wife would be too pleased with me giving $500, so I guess I’ll be out on getting to be the Hero =/

Such is life though. But still, I’d like to help. I’ll donate a bit when I can, that aside I’ll spread the word, who knows what will happen from that point on?

Also, pretty cool that you’ve shown us your face (and voice) now. Gotta say, one of the things I love about this comic, as opposed to Homestuck, is how much more accessible you are.

BloodWolf7 on May 6, 2012 at 4:00 am

@Joe I’m from Europe and I’ve used Paypal to pay, if you want to know for the payment problems

Biperfuture on May 6, 2012 at 6:51 am

I guess you could say that Joe is de’Pendon’ on us to donate…

Caketroll on May 6, 2012 at 7:46 am

hey joe couldnt one of us donate an ipad or mail one and then you mail it back?then again people would be to greedy to do it.

jam on May 6, 2012 at 7:46 am

OMG joe i´ve always imagined you to be much more……mmmmm…..ristreto

Sera on May 6, 2012 at 9:18 am

@Happy Vampire – I’m looking forward to the next scene too :D
BloodWolf7 – Thank you for trying your best! Of course, if you don’t have the means, I completely understand and I greatly appreciate you spreading the word!
@NeoWarrior & Biperfuture – Thanks! Weird that some non-US are unable to donate :( Biperfuture, is there anything special that you had to do? Are there any specific details that you could post? Thanks! :D
@Caketroll – Haha! Yes! Such is the life of an inde’Pendon’ game developer :D
@jam – I’ll think about that!
@Sera – Thanks! I think? I don’t know what that means, but I’ll take it as a compliment! :D

Joe on May 6, 2012 at 10:57 am

The game, when released, will be free for PC or you’ll put a price? If I have to pay, how much?

Erik on May 6, 2012 at 12:03 pm

I don’t have means to fund this right now (no international card), but I really wish the best of luck for you Joe. I’ve been there since the beginning of this comic and I can say you improved the story a lot more that I tought possible. To be honest I wasn’t very sure about this webcomic success at it’s start, specially because I was expecting a lot of “scientific mistakes” or something like this (no, I’m not an asshole, that’s just because I’m a scientist) :P But I have to say you did quite well ’til now, just some small inconsistencies but nothing unforgivable. The story became much more exciting as well, it’s amazing how you added action and drama around a humorous main character, really impressive.

Anyway, I’ll do my best to spread the word around. I have high expectatives on this game AND the comic Joe-san, don’t disappoint me :D

Keter on May 6, 2012 at 1:55 pm

*clears throat* So yeah. Give Joe money. I did. And I’m already happy with the results. I got to see a little green bar and a number increase! Totally worth five bucks! :D Watching progress bars happens to be one of my favorite past times.

Oh, and I’m sure the game will be awesome, once it’s released. Good luck!

@NeoWarrior – Perhaps you already have a paypal account associated with the email address you tried to use. (Happened to me… kinda. Long story.) Try a different email address. Dunno if that’ll work or not, but… *shrugs*

Guvnorium on May 6, 2012 at 2:54 pm

@Erik – We haven’t decided on a final price, but even at The Zombie Tier, you’re getting a great deal with the Hero that normal buyers won’t be getting! Not to mention our gratitude for supporting us!
@Keter – Thank you! We won’t disappoint! :D
@Guvnorium – Thanks for the tip and for funding! :D

Joe on May 6, 2012 at 8:31 pm

I have the same problem as Leinahtan xD
I soooooo wanna donate, but I really highly doubt I’d ever be allowed to :(
Soorrrryyyyy Joe, but good luck for developing it, it looks and sounds like it’ll be fun :)

Atty on May 6, 2012 at 8:46 pm

@Joe $10 or less.My family is poor :(.

Edward on May 7, 2012 at 1:02 am

Hey Joe, any idea on a release date? If everything goes to plan, of course. Because if it releases too late, I might just be kissing my 3rd semester of College GPA good bye, if you know what I mean. I’ve actually been playing defense 1 in anticipation for defense 2. I know that knowing you, this will live up to expectations. Good luck with the campaign, and yet again, congratulations on your son. I’m sure he’s already a handful, and, trust me, will continue to be well after he’s in college. :)

Blackmoon845 on May 7, 2012 at 3:41 am

@Joe Oh Sorry, I see now what I wrote was a bit confusing. I meant that Kickstarter don’t accept projects from those who don’t have Non-us card, which I meant to your previous comment.

Otter on May 7, 2012 at 4:00 am

I love Joe. I expect to see some epic puns in the coming scenes ;) I would donate if I had monies to spare :( Good luck!

Caketroll on May 7, 2012 at 4:11 am

Man I cant believe it, we finally see your face and I love the pocalypse

Dalno on May 7, 2012 at 7:27 am

If I had 500/1000 bucks to spare, I would totally donate it -.-. It would be a mage who controls earth and deals AOE damage,knockback, and stun, much like the old pocalypse lazer! Except it would be like a 5×5 square where a earth spike pops up, and knocks in the direction the enemy is in. I make all the stats and weaponry and such for videogames in my spare time because I want to make games but fail at coding -.-, so I have over 9000 ideas for heroes and bosses, but can never use them in a game. I will see if I can get 500 bucks to spare in less than 38 days…

r2d2go on May 7, 2012 at 8:57 am

Thanks for indirectly helping me discover Kenshi.

aattss on May 7, 2012 at 11:08 am

I could have $500, too bad you don’t take instalments ;p.

Akamaaku on May 7, 2012 at 1:31 pm

I greatly appreciate you all wanting to fund, even if you don’t have the means! Even your non-monetary support goes a long way! :D
@Blackmoon845 – We don’t have a release date yet, but it should take a few months after funding to complete the game :D I’ll keep you all updated every step of the way!
@Otter – Ah, right! Yeah, it sucks that Kickstarter doesn’t accept non-US campaigns, but we can make this campaign work, no matter what platform we’re using! :D
@aattss – Haha :D Make sure you fund us first, please! ;D

Joe on May 7, 2012 at 3:24 pm

”New scene will be up soon!”

Your telling me soon is over 72 hours?!

Edward on May 8, 2012 at 6:51 am

Wow, keep chewing him out about keeping us updated. That’s the best idea.

It’s sooner than over 96 hours, or over a week later. Soon is a pretty subjective amount of time.
