What Day is It? | March 31, 2020

Sorry the scene’s late, everyone! Busier weekend than I thought, despite being quarantined :/

Anyone else losing their sense of weekly time? Everyday feels like a weekend with the whole family home all the time :D It’s tough to keep a routine when there’s no outside influence keeping track of time – which, in my case, is usually my kids’ school schedule. Now, as a freelancer and webcomic creator who makes his own schedule, I just measure time by project tasks, including making a scene :D So, it’s not Monday in my mind… it’s scene day!

Oh, off-topic… I can’t decide between getting Animal Crossing: New Horizons or Fire Emblem: Three Houses for Switch. I like the casual, creative, real-time nature of AC but I also love tactical RPGs with job classes and customization. Have you tried either or both? Which would recommend while we’re all cooped up inside?

Enjoy Scene 36 – “Uncle Joe”! A huge thank you to all our Patreon Patrons for their continued support! Super special thanks to Shalidar! Find his sprite in the scene :D

So I’m married, and my wife owns the switch in our house. FE:3H and ACNH are both big games for her too! She’s played Yellow Deer, we played through all of Blue Lions together, and we were doing Black Eagles before Animal Crossing hit. Now she’s mostly being an Animal Crossing hermit. As a result of this, I can attest to both games.

The correct answer is both and play them both a little bit. If you’re restricted by budget, then it comes down to what your optimal day looks like if we weren’t cooped up by the virus.

If you sort of like the feeling of focus and wanting to be inside more and people kind of stress you out a bit, but still low-key like nuanced interpersonal dramas, you should choose Fire Emblem: Three Houses as your game. It will take some time and you’ll probably be disappointed a bit by endings enough to try others to get the grandest picture of what is going on.

If you really need an escape right now to feel like you can return to normalcy, and you just hate being cooped up, Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the break that you need. It could not have shown up at a better time than the pandemic we are going through right now, and there is a reason this will go down in Nintendo history as being the best selling Animal Crossing game. I feel like no other ones will top this one. It’s got lots of character customization options of previous games on top of being able to play with your friends on their islands in real time. You can see people and be social through this game and feel somewhat more normal. People have had weddings in animal crossing to cope with the canceled ones in real life.

Again, they are both great. Choose what works best for you if you have to, but getting both is my recommendation.
