10/10 Rings! 09/04/2021

by Joe

Thanks for waiting for the scene! Wife and I took our annual backcountry camping trip and loved every outdoor minute of it! Great way to recharge under the stars, completely separated from all human contact :D

Now back to civilization, just watched Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings! I thought it was fantastic and every bit deserving of all the critical praise :D The story and characters were awesome but even if they weren’t, the fight choreography, stunt work, and special effects would more than make up for them. Amazing to see what a kung fu movie can be in the context of the MCU – under a Disney budget haha

Definitely recommend seeing it! Nice rebound after the utter meh that was Black Widow :D

Enjoy Scene 55 – “Bad Aim”!

Oof, this guy is so bad… Seriously, if you can’t aim properly STOP SHOOTING! Hope the guy doesn’t die here…

Been rewatching from the beginning as previously stated and taking a couple of notes, but will wait till next chapter to post those ones. For now I’d like to mention a couple of scenes that are broken or impossible to watch.

Chapter 1, Scene 10: the last line of dialogue of Andrius while in the flashback is on quick auto, so it’s impossible to actually read it.

Chapter 1, Scene 22: the entire scene is on VERY fast auto, so both dislogue and action is a total blur. Shame as its the first battle sequence…

Chapter 3, Scene 19: the scene progresses normally, until you choose the second attack of Greybane, which causes the scene to freeze. Later on there was some reveal of Greybane’s and the machine’s attack which is now unviewable.

Chapter 6, Scene 4: the scene freezes when Jess punches Joe, though I’m not sure if there is anything additional after that or if that was the end of the scene.

—————

Beyond that, I’ve been heavily reminiscing the past as I read:

1. Damn I had a long name way back when. I mean, it was part of the rage back then to have an over the top name, but still… at least I changed my nick to NeoWarrior around chapter 3-4 which is a lot less cringe. Now I’m back to a simple NeoPhantom without any suffixes. At least I always keep the Neo consistent!

2. Looking back, I did manage to move the story just a smidgeon with Oxypooper gag joke and Cubert’s name (even if the guy pretty much disappeared after Joe had to use his body). Wonder if we’ll ever see him again in any capacity, seeing as Joe has had no reason to mind-craft in a long while.

Small Theory:

1. The plants and machines do have quite a lot in common. Both are hive-mind races that thrive on territory control whose actions are taken by pure logic without any moral code to speak of. The main differences between the two is that while machines only have a collective consciousness (except when a second party is involved such as Victor, Samuel and Bernie), the plants have both an collective and individual consciousness. I wonder what would happen if something occurred that forced the two collectives to link up… The machines are known to have very weak mental resistances to those who gain access to their network. Second is that the plants are not only hard to manipulate, but also come to recognize those who become part of their network as part of the whole, even if they do not share their goals or opinions (such as their benign relation with Rosa even when she directly opposes them). Given this, I theorize the machines would not be able to gain dominance over the plants, but the plants would then consider the machines as part of the whole. This would then trigger an event in which there’s a schism in the plant faction, divided between still destroying the machines and another which wants to change the machines to be efficient enough while also being environmentally friendly. Given the machines also want to achieve a perfect evolution, they would likely welcome the transformation to gain free, infinite energy.

Forgot, but who is in that suit again? Thinking it’s Rusty with how he’s shooting.

@NeoPhantom – Thank you for the broken scene reports! I’ve fixed them all (you may have to clear your cache) :D Lemme now if you run into any problems! Haha, yes I remember your long names – even on the very first scene! Very nostalgic :D I’ve missed your theories!
@C-R* – Yup! It’s our boy, Rusty :D

@Joe

I’ll be sure to keep the theories coming for a while, thats for certain!

Might wanna give Chapter 1, Scene 10 another go. It now freezes on the first line of dialogue.

The other scenes are perfect now! Forgot that the mutants had made an early appearance in that battle scene.

There were other errors with past chapters, but they were:
1) Broken quotation marks with the text saying quote instead of “ ”. This was most prevalent in Aaron’s story scenes. They are a lot of this one.
2) A single instance in which a Scene’s title had a broken bold instead of quotation. Funnily enough this error is visible even in the Archive as it says B&B instead of Amp.
3) A complete lack of sound in most scenes, though I mostly noticed it due to Scrufflebeck’s bark being silent and a scene in which an explosion was supposed to sound and everyone was looking around.

@NeoPhantom – Thank you for the reports! Chapter 1, Scene 10 should be working now :D I’ll see what I can do with quotation marks and missing sounds but, for now, I’m glad we can all look back at the story we were missing for so long!

Joe on September 8, 2021 at 10:17 am

@Joe

Nope, Scene is still freezing on the first dialogue. Checked on two devices in case it was cache, but error persists in both.
