Josh Gad. Ugh. | August 5, 2020

by Joe

Randomly stumbled upon “Little Monsters” on Prime Video. Lupita Nyong’o is in it and there are zombies – of course I’m gonna watch it :D

It’s a short, to-the-point comedy/zombie movie that’s pretty average but it does have it’s cute little moments as the grown ups try to protect their kindergarteners from the flesh-eating infected as well as mental breakdown by making the zombie horde a “game”. The comedy is definitely no Shaun of the Dead and the protecting the children aspect is most definitely no La vita è bella. But, it’s entertaining enough to warrant a recommendation.

What brought the movie down for me was the over-the-top crude humour – particularly from Josh Gad. You know Josh Gad, the snowman from Frozen, the cringey LeFou from the Beauty and the Beast remake – that guy. I find him awfully annoying and his incredibly loud presence actually sucks the character and atmosphere out of scenes he’s in. It takes an acting powerhouse like Lupita Nyong’o to bring scenes back to earth. It’s like he belongs in Adam Sandler movies.

Enjoy Scene 9 – “The Right Hands”! Special thanks to all our Patreon Patrons for their continued support! Super big thank you goes out to Shalidar – find his sprite in the scene :D Join them and support The Pocalypse on Patreon! I really appreciate it :D

You will be happy to know that Josh Gad is in the new “Honey, I Shrunk The Kids” movie.

Samuel seems to be quite human, civilised and kind but I wouldn’t trust someone who supports young boy’s delusions and praising him for trying to kill someone.

Even less trustworthy are the machines. If I understand correctly they really care about their resources and if they waste them to help useless humans, it means they actually have some use for them or Samuel has and they need him for something.

Part of me still thinks sam will eventually try to redo the experiment that created joe and the others, maybe to replace simon and in turn, weaken the rest of them.

@Joe – equivalent role, but looks like Rick Moranis is actually reprising his role, Josh Gad is playing his son grown up.
