Oh My Flash! 05/10/2011

by Joe

This scene took forever! I know it’s super simple, but I had to look up and learn ActionScript that I’ve never see before! I got a lot of help from our game programmer, so a huge thanks goes out to him again :D

I don’t think instructions are needed, but let me know if you need help “playing” the scene :D

Thank you for bearing with me, a programming noob. I’m glad I took the time to learn this stuff because it opens up a lot of possibilites for future scenes! As the story progresses (and my ActionScript knowledge grows), new characters, attacks, skills, items and features will make their way into the battle sequences :D Can’t wait to see where this goes!

Enjoy Scene 19 – “No More Chase”!

Please continue to vote! :D Bug’s sketch is still the incentive! Thank you for voting everyday!

You can follow The Pocalypse on Facebook (check out our paper doll pictures!), Twitter and RSS, too!

Ooooh i liked that! I would suggest making something for the bad ends other than an “Oops” screen, maybe something comical, who knows ^^ Very great work joe, can’t wait to see wednesday’s comic!

Great scene Joe!! I have to admit I didn’t expect the interactive battle!! Kudos to your ActionScript learning!! :D

Vampirro on May 10, 2011 at 11:04 am

Yay robot tiem!

With all the time we’ve spent on Vampires it’s nice to get into the Mutants and now the Robots.

What happened to all the zombies though? XD They just stay out of the Vamp territory?

scavenger on May 10, 2011 at 11:33 am

oh great its the attack of killer robots!

sykes on May 10, 2011 at 11:47 am

Will we ever see a ninja pirate zombie robot? That would be pretty awesome.
Congratulations on learning ActionScript. I look forward to seeing more and better scenes.

bobbaganoosh on May 10, 2011 at 11:48 am

Sorry Joe, I enjoyed it, but the fight scene was too repetitive. I mean, think when there is this monster with a ton of health, and you just keep on clicking.
Anyway, good work on the suddenly robot rockets.

@Lennex – Thanks! Yes, the lose screen was admittedly rushed. I’ll have something better (and funnier!) for future losing screens :D
@Vampirro – Thanks! Lots to learn!
@Anon – Glad you enjoyed it, at least! I’m just glad it works haha :D I hope to have more battle options and ways to win for future battles, but for now, this is really all I can do :D

Joe on May 10, 2011 at 1:17 pm

Hi, I did win the first time, but I was curious what might happen if I tried to die. And I gotta say, I was a bit disapointed. I mean, since the scene ends with no clear winner, it could have easily ended with bug holding onto our hero, about to kill him, then missle attack

Discet on May 10, 2011 at 1:39 pm

NICE Buttons!!!! nuff said

death13a on May 10, 2011 at 1:49 pm

@Discet – Haha, that’s absolutely true! I’ll keep that in mind: two different outcomes with ultimately the same conclusion, so that the next scene still makes sense either way! :D

Joe on May 10, 2011 at 1:55 pm

one word EPIC

mutant hunter on May 10, 2011 at 3:09 pm

Heh… suddenly I’m thinking after the side-scroller you should make a pocalypse RPG. (But not using Joe. He’s too much of a tank. Maybe Rusty and the crew, or normal characters like that. o0o… now my minds going off on that idea. XP)

Riou on May 10, 2011 at 5:14 pm

Mutants have equal power to lycans/werewolves, so it wasn’t much of a surprise Riou… However for both of them to have been friends in the past was!

NeoWarrior on May 10, 2011 at 8:27 pm

Nothing like a little mutation due to radiation poisoning to turn your lycan friend against you.

Aethrys on May 11, 2011 at 12:14 am

Rovage St Laurent on May 11, 2011 at 10:07 pm
