They Can’t All Be Winners | September 26, 2020

by Joe

After a really good stint of Korean movie binges, my zombie-fanatic son and I ran into two duds: Train to Busan 2 – Peninsula and #Alive. Both were cookie-cutter and tension-less. I was particularly disappointed with Peninsula since I loved Train to Busan.

Who are we kidding, though – I’m still gonna catch anything post-apocalyptic :D

Seems like Rosa is quite the apocalyptic doctor!

I’m very very sure #Alive is based off of a webtoons korean comic that I read. don’t remember the name of it. But that zipline for supplies across the apartments was the big main thing that reminded me of said comic.

Aww, bummer about Peninsula! Just heard about it from you and am saddened to see its getting mixed reviews. Oh well, can’t always make em all good

As always, thanks for posting and sharing with us the world of Pocalypse!

Hey Joe, always glad to see a new comic! (I check most days that I’m not busy with other stuff)

Looking forward to seeing Rosa develop and fight between the conflicting desires of her different influences – especially the conflict between her human individuality and the plant’s “collective consciousness”. I’m hoping she’ll be able to change the plants’ thoughts about Joe and the rest of the super powered people, but maybe not. Maybe instead, they’ll be able to communicate with Joe and work together to try and make him an ally. I feel like Rosa + Joe tag teaming could take on a pretty sizeable threat in the machines.

At the same time, Sam and the machines are… interesting. He’s manipulative, and I can’t trust his methods or his motives given how he’s treated Greybane. I’m not entirely certain he will end up being a genuine evil threat rather than Victor, but I can definitely see that happening. I think it would also be pretty neat if there was somehow an offshoot of the machines that somehow ended up protecting and working with the plants, because biomachines are REALLY cool.

Meanwhile, there’s Victor himself and Andrius… and I’m not sure how they’re going to play in at this point. Or how Bernie and Bernard Senior are going to, either. Lot of mystery still to unfold.

I do hope that there’s a way for the machines and plants to come together with the humans to form a supercolony, but I also kinda doubt it, and I get the bad feeling that Bernard Senior and Sam are still working together in some underhanded way to… progress evolution or something. Possible they directly caused many of the mutations to humans, animals, the plants, and the machines to begin with. We’ll see though.

Thanks as always for more fantastic story development, I look forward to where you’ll go next! Keep yourself safe and healthy. :)

…haha, plant based “anesthesia”?
In other news I can only imagine/remember either Greybane or Andrius joining them. Probably not Andrius, but Greybane would probably have interesting reactions.
And as SkyeWint mentioned, stay safe and healthy!

“Should she return, we would gladLY welcome her..:”
I don’t like being a stickler about grammar, but it was quite jarring to see an old school soul like Sam mess up is adverbs like that.

On another note: Hot damn! Tension! Excitement! Anticipation! Woot!
