As I was creating today’s scene, I had to look back on previous scenes to refresh my memory on the finer details of the story. I have to do this sometimes to avoid continuity problems like what a character was wearing or who a character has met before, etc. So, I went back to Scene 1 of this chapter and noticed that this chapter has been going on for OVER A YEAR! I knew that I’d been updating really slowly but it really hit me just then and I realized just how patient you guys have been waiting for updates. I find it amazing that, when I upload a scene, comment, tweet, or make a Facebook post, I STILL get a lot of feedback from those of you who have decided to stick around during this drought. I know I say this a lot but I really appreciate everyone who is reading this. You guys are awesome :D
It looks like the malware issue has been fixed :D I haven’t seen a notification or warning since my last post so I must’ve done something right! I’m pretty sure it wasn’t someone trying to attack the site. It’s more likely that it was malware that had infected my system and was able to inject malicious code to the site’s files through my FTP program, whenever I used it. So, if there’s anyone out there who is running their own site and doesn’t know much about this stuff (like me), please keep your system’s anti-virus and -malware programs updated and scan regularly :D You don’t wanna go through what I went through!

whats the status on the game joe?
Joe, out of curiosity, does the Pocalypse have a named fanbase? For example, Pewdiepie has the Bro Army, Tobuscus has his Audience, MLP:FIM has bronies and pegasisters, Eddsworld has Eddheads, etc… Does the Pocalypse have anything like that?
Well, I’d almost given up on seeing an update. Don’t get me wrong, it was a very nice surprise seeing 3 new episodes to watch. Having just had a baby myself I know how little time one has for anything not critical to putting food on the table. My own hobbies also got put on the shelf. Joe, like you said, just ignore the trolling negative comments and write when you can.
Constructive part: Why not have a subscribe section where the fans can put in their email (we need it on the comments anyway) and you can do a quick mailshot to all of us saying “Hey, new episode is up!”. That would bring back people like me who like the series but stopped checking for updates. Not everyone has twitter which is why I suggested email.

@Steve: very nice thoughts :) I’d also love to see such an ending for Cross haha! Although I must say it would probably do little justice to any decent villain, and even if he’s not as much of a main antagonist as Victor I find it more likely for him to be defeated by Joe&co. Or by Andy, who knows.

@All – All of The Pocalypse’s music comes from very generous and talented readers! This scene’s music comes from Dominic Longden (beginning) and Jeremy Howlett (end). I’ll think about the soundtrack idea as I have to speak with the creators first :D
– The Pocalypse Defense 2 is still in production (the song that Jeremy made was actually for the game!) but with my programmer and I both having picked up full-time jobs (not together), production has slowed down since we obviously can’t work full-time on the game anymore :( We don’t have a date yet but the project is most certainly not dead and neither is The Pocalypse :D
– I don’t know what readers of The Pocalypse are called haha I just call everyone “readers” :D This has been discussed before and “Pocalyptians”, as MrBester said, sounds good to me :D
@Flebbe – Yeah, that’s a great idea :D I’ll have to figure out how to implement something like that (and find time to do it :D) as I know not everyone has Facebook or Twitter. There is an RSS feed but do people even use that anymore?

It just occurred to me that we haven’t seen Jess since like the last chapter, and she hasn’t actually done much of anything useful (aside from occasional but in the end useless first-aid) since way back when they went into Vampire territory! o_O

Found this comic a few weeks back, and just finished powering through the archives. You have created one of the most interesting and creative worlds I have come across in a long time – and then you performed the far harder trick of actually populating it with some interesting characters (as well as some mary sue’s, but eh – this is simply an observation, not a beat-down.)
I kinda wish there was a game set in this world – really looking forward to the next installment. Can appreciate that RL takes priority, though!

Shalidar13, that was exactly the point I was trying to bring up. Also, shouldn’t there be lots more? Unless, the vampires had been fighting a war with the werewolves, nearly eradicating them, before the plague broke out. Now the machines, that could be the Singularity happening. The plants?

Damian Dante: I must admit that explaining the plants is hard. My theories are that:
A: The virus that created the zombies gave the plants sentience. (not likely)
B: They were created by scientists to combat things like global warming (possible)
C: They had always existed, they just stayed hidden from sight until the pocalypse happened: (i think most likely theory of the 3)

I wanna say a Terminator like scenario happened with the machines. They were created and gained sentience. It has already been directly stated that vampires have been around for a long time. The plants most likely always existed. Or, for all we know, they are mutated, just like the normal mutants, but plant based rather than animal based.
Unless… The virus that took away people’s minds, gave sentience to the plants.
Yeah, wait, you said that. I’d rather the one virus screwed everything up.
I think people are reading 2 much into this and taking it a bit too serious lol starting to sound like a scientific documentary up in here!

i freaking love this webcomic and its really easy to get into it the only problem i have noticed is that the updates take way to long and i get why Joe has a family and family should always come first but ya just way to long of a wait. still i love the comic so much i stick around anyways :)

I follow a lot of web comics, and I’ve been with The Pocalypse since the beginning. The thing is, ever since things started to grow difficult for Joe, he made sure to warn us. Unlike other artists that I follow that just don’t say a thing when they miss an update (or say a week after missing it) Joe made sure we all knew what he was going trough. So I say, F*** the haters. If you don’t want to follow anymore, just go away.
