Hakuna Matata :D | September 2, 2012

by Joe

I went to African Lion Safari today for a family trip and I’m exhausted :D

The park is a game reserve that lets people drive into it on a set path. So we would see baboons climbing on people’s cars and elk walking alongside cars, curiously peering at the gawking humans inside. It was especially neat to see lions and rhinos doing their thing (sleeping, mostly) relatively close to cars with no barrier in between. I would imagine that a lion, let alone a rhinoceros, could rip into a car pretty easily but it amazed me how docile, timid, and pretty much apathetic the animals were to us. Relaxed, not concerned about food or safety (the staff even noted that when we saw a giraffe lying down – something that is never seen in the wild). “Hakuna matata” I thought and wished I was a lion :D

I’m sure there are parks like this (no cages, unlike zoos) all over the world and if you have a reputable one near you, I recommend you make a trip out of it! :D

Enjoy Scene 29 – “Helpless”!

Back to school! :D Who can you find in this Hammerston school lot? Vote to see! Please vote for The Pocalypse here everyday! I’m going to try coming up with a new incentive every update (or every few updates) :D Thank you for voting!

I do have one near me. It’s African Lion Safari! I went there when I was little. I thought it was nifty, of course, but it had kind of built up into this thing in my mind where the lions hunted prey and didn’t just, you know, sleep.

Nice comic, as usual, but just one problem…

It’s too short.

Please go back to longer comics, especially with the four + day wait in between…

But, again, even with the briefness, awesome comic.

I am up way to late for this, the comic was kind of short, (Although I sympathize with all the work you’re doing + taking care of your family,) Scrufflebeck is just plain awesome as usual, and I’m way to tired and I’m probably going to regret typing this when the sun rises.

So THAT’s what the Elder meant by “the plants push back the machines”.

That metal rusting sound effect was awesome!

Gotta say, Scrufflebeck is one bad-ass pet. Protective, smart, loyal and caring. Someone that needs a nice big hug, a big bowl of water and good food (or nutrients?) and all the affection Joe and the rest of the gang can give.

Though figure the rest of the plants aren’t exactly fans of humans, figure Scrufflebeck’s example is one rare sign of hope.

That was.. a bit anti-climactic. I was sort of expecting something much more major, what with that stellar cliff-hanger last episode (Good job, by the way). Like maybe Bernie failing to stop it, and then the colony exploding. I mean, all that hype over that missile, only to have the threat disappear within seconds of it making itself known. And it was stopped by an MIA character, too. Seems kinda deus ex machina.

Also: Sorry to be “That guy,” but this was kind of a let down, if you know what I mean. I still think you are a great story teller/isometric artist. Keep up the good work!

Edward the missile was heading straight at the colony. Based on the machines power i’m pretty sure New Hammerston would have been blown out of existence if Scrufflebeck and his plant buddie didn’t badass that missile.

African Lion Safari is a fun place. Best part, if you get the time, they have a campground right next to the park, and as soon as the sun rises in the morning you can hear all the animals waking too. I can only imagine its what a particularly dense African wilderness would sound like in the morning =D

Geez, Dominik and the Medic guy weren’t kidding. Those plants are Boss! Honestly, the world is divided between the plants and machines. Everything else is just trying to survive in it, including the Vampires. The Mutants seem like the only ones who may adapt to a Plant world. The machines are going to need to do some drastic sterilization if they wanna win.

Scott

I kinda wonder if the plants don’t have their own motive for helping; we’ve seen them be less than friendly before, so perhaps its more a matter of the machines threatening their turf than it is them just happening to be gracious benefactors here.

That was INCREDIBLY short. I think that was the shortest episode yet. Great sound effects on the creaking metal part! On another note, I KNEW Bernie was going to start yelling “NO!” when the thruster shut off, I’m surprised the missile didn’t explode when it was struck if that’s how missiles explode in the first place as far as I know (it hits something hard and explodes), and what the heck is that thing that’s following Scrufflebeck? I get the feeling tables are about to turn…
