Making Another Trailer! :D 05/10/2012

by Joe

I’m in the process of making a preview trailer for The Pocalypse Defense 2 to attract more people to the Indiegogo campaign. It’s going to be all art and sample gameplay this time, no me talking :D What do you think of this script? Imagine the narrator dialogue read by a deep movie trailer voice :D

(Panning up on Powerfist in a heroic stance.)
NARRATOR: In a world of death, fear, and suffering only one man can make a difference…

(Showing Powerfist’s face.)
NARRATOR(N): … A karate yellow belt master-
JOE: GRAND master.
N: Uh, right. GRAND master. He is the world’s last hope…

(Quick flash of text reading “(The superpowers help too.)”)
(Clips of Joe and party exploring Hammerston.)
N: Join our heroes as you take back your city from all the monsters of the apocalypse!

(Clips of colony-building mode.)
N: Rebuild your colony!

(Clips of tower defense mode in front of New Hammerston’s gates.)
N: Defend it!

(Clips of battles outside the colony.)
N: Upgrade your units and destroy your enemies!

(Title shot.)
N: The Pocalypse Defense 2. It’s not just apocalypse, it’s THE Pocalypse. Coming soon to a computer and iPad near you.

(Fade to black. Show additional info/links.)

What do you think? Can you picture it? Lemme know and I’ll keep working on it! :D

Did you spread the campaign today? Please do! Let’s make it happen! :D

Feel free to use the banner I made below and if you need a different-sized banner made up, please contact me and I’ll gladly send it to you! If you’re on Twitter, I’m using the hashtag #ThePocalypseDefense2 when I tweet about the campaign!

Enjoy the “WHAT?!”-less (;D) Scene 5 – “One Last Scavenge”! Would you open it?

You can follow The Pocalypse on Facebook, Twitter and RSS!

Allow me a moment to bask in the pleasure of having one of my favorite webcomics back on a regularish schedule. I mean, one new one was good, but two within three days? So much yes!

Guvnorium on May 10, 2012 at 4:10 pm

whats in the box? WHAT’S IN THE BOX?

dave on May 10, 2012 at 6:50 pm

I’d open that thing. But first, I’d search myself a weapon.

Sam on May 10, 2012 at 7:25 pm

Ahaha! I can’t dissagree w/ Joe on his decision…truly…I’m actually just glad that he didn’t freak out or anything. He handled that situation pretty well XD. But I’m just wondering where in the world he thinks he’s going? >.< And oooohhh what's in the box? o.o i wanna knowww~~~

KunaiAkshar on May 10, 2012 at 7:44 pm

@Guvnorium – Don’t wanna get your hopes up, especially with all the TPD2 stuff to do, but I will try my best to get 3 updates a week up for you! :D
@dave – Haha! LOVE that movie :D

Joe on May 10, 2012 at 10:06 pm

Oh my goodness, I finally caught up with your comic, but now I wish I never did because it takes so long to wait for the new one!!! D:

T*sh****a on May 10, 2012 at 11:03 pm

I wonder how could the elder predict that situation when he put the box to the dream…

Anyway this is my first comment here and I’d like to thank you for the great comic. I read everything in two days and can’t wait for next scenes. :-)

Jirka on May 10, 2012 at 11:32 pm

As a possible alteration to the Narrator script, “N: Join our heroes as you take back your city from all the monsters of the apocalypse! Could swap out apocalypse for Pocalypse, I know it is mentioned later but the more something is mentioned the more likely it is to be remembered FOR ALL TIME!

bobsickle on May 11, 2012 at 1:47 am

Omfg! just open the fucking closet! I can’t wait no more! Aaaaaaand I wanna se more Dominik!!

MissMystic on May 11, 2012 at 3:17 am

You just know they’re going to find the stuff they need in that Box. Or maybe a Corpse (non-ambulatory… I hope)

Vyrien on May 11, 2012 at 4:43 am

Great scene!

zach on May 11, 2012 at 5:55 am

Oh and good job w/ the script! I can totally imagine it XD especially Joe’s annoyed face when he’s correcting the narrator :P

KunaiAkshar on May 11, 2012 at 6:53 am

@Jirka – I think it’s pretty obvious that he’d want them, since he doesn’t actually know if there are any zombies there, just his theory, and with what happened to his friend, Daren was it?, I’d be cautious too. Also, he pretty much instigated the need for binoculars with that dream, might have also given the dad one too, just my theory anyways.

Oh wait I almost forgot. CUE NARNIA! XD

illeatyourself on May 11, 2012 at 9:05 am

Maybe where won’t be blood or corpses in the box/closet/thing. Maybe there lies only binoculars and stuff? We don’t have to be so dramastic. Even know I also wanna know whats in there. And Rosa sure screwed up with Joe! It’s like nobody wants him :'( Thats sad because we all know the almighty powerfist is super awesome.

BadassCupcake on May 11, 2012 at 6:50 pm

Damn. Will we get one time when (the comic) Joe won’t be a complete asshat and actually be a hero once? Or you know, just a normal person perhaps. After passing out. Or meeting with her sister maybe…
Douchebags aren’t too likable in the long run, even in fiction and he IS one of the protagonists after all :)

Otter on May 11, 2012 at 11:08 pm

And in the box there is.. blood.

Happy Vampire on May 12, 2012 at 1:42 am

So fluffykins plantmonster doesn’t see her as a person? Well, I guess he sees her as a fellow. : )

cwDeiciMellhurst on May 12, 2012 at 4:39 am

It goes to NARNIAAAAAAAAA. Yeah, probably not.

Chocolatepuff on May 12, 2012 at 7:49 am

Sounds pretty awesome Joe, the narration anyways (though it also seems really cheesy). I have a question though, are you doing something different? Cause after scene one of this chapter the visual quality of the scenes went down. I don’t know if maybe I missed something back there that was supposed to alert me to the cause, but I haven’t seen any response. All the scenes before Chapter Seven Scene 2 are still fine though. If you have a chance to let me know if it’s just me or what, I’d appreciate it (I understand you’re busy though). Or, if someone else can tell me, I’d appreciate that as well.

BloodWolf7 on May 12, 2012 at 8:04 am

To stay on track, you need to collect $250 per day

Notgoingtosay on May 12, 2012 at 9:02 am

@BloodWolf7 – Haha, yes! It’s going to be quite cheesy! Definitely not going the “gritty, suspenseful action, somber music” route :D As for scene quality, I haven’t been doing anything different! Hmm. Is your Flash player updated? Try right-clicking the scene, select “Quality” and change it to “High”. Let me know if your issue is resolved :D
@Notgoingtosay – Or $8,700+ in one day! :D

Joe on May 12, 2012 at 10:47 am

I think Joe (The comic one) is getting it a bit too hard. Getting rejected, getting shot, losing his body, losing his powers. I think he needs a real friend. Someone he can talk to about his problems and his past. Maybe even if he finds a way to talk to his Scrufflebeck. Through the dream world maybe. I just read the whole comic from season 1 yesterday so this are just what I think. He needs a friends that trusts him and a friend that he trusts.

The Khan on May 12, 2012 at 11:37 am

@joe too true

Notgoingtosay on May 12, 2012 at 12:35 pm
