Reliving That Nostalgic DBZ Hype :D | March 19, 2019

by Joe

I put off watching Dragon Ball Super: Broly since it came out last year because I wanted to catch up on Dragon Ball Super beforehand. Turns out, at the rate I’m watching the episodes, I would have never gotten to the movie :D So, I watched it anyways and I’m glad I did!

The vibe and humour was your typical Dragon Ball Z/Super fare but the fight scenes, particularly THE fight scene that takes up half the movie were edge-of-my-seat incredible. I was smiling the whole time, much like the younger me who witnessed Goku turn Super Saiyan for the first time against Frieza. The movie has rekindled my Dragon Ball hype and I’m really looking forward to seeing Broly again :D

Ugh. Simon pisses me off so much. Why can’t he be on the right side? Jeez.

@Heitor Ikeda Simon works out great as a character who wants to build a better future but is so out of touch with reality and with their sense of morality and justice they end up as a bad guy. Joe’s a great writer!

Some days I think I just comment to show my loyalty to the series. I am sticking with this one to the end. But while I’m here — IS JOE GONNA SNAP AND HURT PEOPLE?

@Znayx not sure but as far as I remember the Joe that “snapped” is actually Victor and I can’t remember if Victor is still in Joe (I think I remember Victor moving on to a different body).

Simon is annoying as anything, seriously morally twisted, but that will make him a great foil for Joe. When Joe had Victor in his mind (and basically had all of both of their power), he was super cocky and not very considerate. Now, without Victor, Joe is having to build his own power and discover his own drive to protect people. This is difficult, as Simon has much higher resolve right now, and knows Joe’s fear. By overcoming his fear and confronting/overcoming Simon, Joe will be well prepared to convince the other Shells to help him with whatever the endgame of the comic is, and perhaps even to confront/redeem Andrius. This may be the difficult chapter of Joe’s development, but in most media that chapter preceeds the main character’s redemption, enhancement, and new resolve to save the community they’re in. It’ll be a great reveal when it happens!

OK I’m confused, why is Simon trying to draw Samuel to Joe? (/what’s happening aside from Simon flexing on Joe?)
