The Walking Dead, Season One Complete! | December 16, 2010

by Joe

I just finished watching the sixth and last episode of The Walking Dead‘s first season. A good amount of zombie-killing action carried by plenty of drama makes it a show worth following! I look forward to its second season! :D

If you’re unfamiliar with the show (or the comic that it is based on, which I haven’t read yet), The Walking Dead follows a group of survivors in a zombie-infested world. Not the most original idea (ahem… yeah, I know, I’m pointing at me, too), but the show focuses more on the varied individuals that make up a small group of survivors and their relationships. Yes, this concept has been explored in many other stories, but it’s always nice to see other perspectives and different human experiences during a zombie apocalypse. Especially when the experiences are portrayed in well-acted and well-produced manner.

The first season leaves a lot of unanswered questions and gives a somewhat vague explanation of the zombie “virus”. Some characters are “missing” and we’re left wondering when we’re going to see them again… in whatever state they may be in. I’m eager to see what happens next and I almost don’t want to read the comics and spoil the surprise :D

I would call The Walking Dead a drama show more than an action show. It feels realistic and believable, especially compared to a Hollywood zombie action flick (like Resident Evil, for example). Some scenes may be a little excessive for the squeamish, but you don’t see any blood-raged heroes running into a swarm of zombies with two chainsaws and an automatic shotgun with unlimited ammo. So, if you like drama shows with a dash of gory, zombie-splitting action in a post-apocalyptic world, definitely check out The Walking Dead’s first season and, like me, wait patiently for its upcoming second season :D

As I type this, we have 90 great people in the forums! I’m excited to reach 100, so once we reach that number, I’m going to post something new! Well, something old! I’m going to start a thread featuring the ORIGINAL The Pocalypse comic! The Pocalypse was originally a “traditional”, drawn webcomic and I didn’t get very far with it. So, I’m going to let our awesome forum members continue the timeline! Let’s reach 100 forum members :D

I was asked to start a Formspring account, so I did! http://www.formspring.me/ThePocalypse :D If you have any questions to ask me, feel free to! Remember, you can also reach me in the forums!

Please continue to vote and nominate (if you think I deserve it)!

Enjoy Scene 6 – “Hero of Hammerston”!

dude, I love your comic and all, but are you seriously telling me a trained elite soldier didnt get a kill shot from that close of range?… I mean, its cool, its your comic, I understand its not real life or anything, but at the very least this implies he isnt exactly the elite military machine he believes himself to be,lol… Im no sharp shooter, but I could kill a man with a .22 from 50 feet away…let alone the other side of an office… and im sure he probably had at least a 9mm… but, that being said, I really love the comic, and joe kicking his ass…lol

Or maybe Cross wanted to extract some info outta mayor… or just torture him by killing kids at his sight. Cruelty, there’s no stopping it, unless Joe is involved. :]

Hehe. Silly old Cross. He’d be exactly the sort of man to run into a swarm of zombies with two chainsaws and an automatic shotgun with unlimited ammo. Pity he’s so unwise.

Curator, I very much doubt your ability to instantly drop people with a single shot 100% of the time. Only 1/3 of the bullets fired by handguns in gunfights at this range end up even hitting the PERSON they were aimed at, let alone get an instant kill. Are you really so shocked the mayor might not die right away?
