TPD2 Units! 03/17/2012

by Joe

Sorry about the “filler”, but I’ve been on a roll with TPD2 work! Above are a few of the units that will make their way into the game :D Hover over a unit to view its info and you can click the GRID button on the bottom-right to toggle the grid on and off.

Let me know what you think about the units and how they look! And, keep the suggestions and ideas coming! I greatly appreciate them! Feel free to join the brainstorming and discussion in this forum thread! :D

Enjoy Flash Showcase 01 – “The Pocalypse Defense 2 Units, Part 1”!

You can follow The Pocalypse on Facebook, Twitter and RSS!

Check out Green Pixel’s first iOS game: BlockHopper! http://blockhopper.greenpixel.ca/ Thank you for your support and have fun running, hopping, and thinking your way to the Goal! Make your own levels, too! :D The FREE Lite version is also out! Get it here!

Have a great weekend!

Its a bit too big to put on the page, or my screen is too small but it looks amazing and I can’t wait to play it!

zach on March 17, 2012 at 1:24 pm

STOKED :D for this. Can’t wait for more development on this.

Tymon on March 17, 2012 at 1:41 pm

OMG i can wait for a game like this

Dranlord on March 17, 2012 at 3:10 pm

It’s more poorly aligned than too big on my screen.
If the embed location was at the normal scene location it would fit just fine

sh4d0wfl4re on March 17, 2012 at 3:25 pm

if you look up you can see that is a nother unit up

vampire super boy on March 17, 2012 at 4:27 pm

@sh4d0wfl4re – Yeah, the site’s design doesn’t accommodate for a 1024×768 scene, so I pulled a quick patch job to put the flash object somewhere :D
Sorry for the awkwardness, everyone! :D

Joe on March 17, 2012 at 4:41 pm

For the above link, its centralised and without any ads or other stuff so I can see everything.

a random person on March 17, 2012 at 6:27 pm

Anything we are missing? Such as Joe or Harry at the side of the screen maybe? Just want to make sure I’m not missing any of this badassness

Highcalibur10 on March 17, 2012 at 6:53 pm

@a random person – Thank you! Yes, you can just direct link to the file and display it in your browser :D
@sh4d0wfl4re – Tweaked the site’s code and squeezed the file into the original scene area! :D
@Highcalibur10 – Joe is a few cells above Sentinel and I’m not sure yet whether Harry will be in this one :D

Joe on March 17, 2012 at 7:12 pm

YEAH ! looking great :D

a late idea I’d like to share for Joe’s mindcrafting abilities …
If I understood well it is supposed to work only in the dream realm.
So you could have different levels of blocks that affect only enemies
as Joe would make them think there is an actual block.
with level one you affect zombies, with level 2 plants , then machines, vampires and

finally elders …
you could even spawn a block on an unit to protect it, with a semi-transparent effect.
the blocks would act as an extra armor and have hp increased by the levels …

well that was just an idea, that might be tricky to include in the game play.

anyway keep the great work on the serie and the games !
thank you ;)

upiru on March 17, 2012 at 7:34 pm

why dont they just use the tank in the background?

Mikado on March 17, 2012 at 8:44 pm

Looks good, any sneak hints as to how long it’ll be till a playable version is out? =P

SMR on March 17, 2012 at 9:54 pm

Gotta say, I do love The Pocalypse’s Art Style, but I think it’d be neat if you were to make a Strategy RPG, like Tactics Ogre or FFT… training your own band of monster-fighting Scavengers and battling said monsters while searching for Loot would be neat. Maybe you could even have a customizable base/hub, with new finds allowing you to add on to it, which would allow you to give your soldiers new classes.

Vyrien on March 17, 2012 at 11:35 pm

Hmmm, where is Rosa?

EnterTheNameHere on March 17, 2012 at 11:41 pm

Day walker, night stalker…
(Dota players will get it)

Dave on March 18, 2012 at 12:37 am

MEEEEEEEDIIIIIIIIC! Haha I loved the TF2 reference.

Ms.Woot100 on March 18, 2012 at 12:44 am

@Joe- Please put Harry in the game!
Also Rosa for Night-time attacks, since she is already in the colony

NeoWarrior on March 18, 2012 at 3:14 am

ooh maybe put in a bomer takes a while to relod but massive damage

ALONZO on March 18, 2012 at 3:17 am

I have recently found your webcomic, began from Ch. 1 Scene. 1, and I love it. By the way, I am also going to be an indie game dev as well. And I am also late to the party as well.

not_so_sporty_sporto on March 18, 2012 at 4:36 am

@Joe looks great! Now I wish I had an iPad, I could ‘borrow’ ‘dads’ one for spring break, we’ll see!

sh4d0wfl4re on March 18, 2012 at 4:58 am

Hum interesting concepts of progressive military

I have one question however. We saw the Night Stalker before, so does the other advanced units also exist in New Hammerston, specific to the Vampire Slayer, Specialist, Laser Gunner and Medic?

Ashendant on March 18, 2012 at 7:26 am

can’t wait for it to come out, will units be able to hit all lanes or just their own, and if only their own, what about the people on the side?

Not going to say on March 18, 2012 at 11:00 am

also, started commenting reccently, but i’ve seen all the episodes, ii first found out about it when likwid games got TPD1, saw up to 3-24 in 2 days

Would like to re-state what Vyrien said. I’d love a FFT or Shining Force style game based around your world. I’m in the process of writing a table top adventure for some friends, leaning heavily on the rules and history of The Pocalypse.

Incidentally, you’ve done a great job with the writing, and moving the story through the various chapters and areas of the city. I’m impressed and enjoying it.

Selous Recce on March 18, 2012 at 2:05 pm

@joe what about useing nick like some kind of power that gives healt?you know you click on him, after theat on a unit and after that you need to wait i dont know how many and you can use him again, and use harry to repair the gates

Those using a small screen on windows, try pressing F11.

Also, you should know you are now in a minority, 14% of users use a screen size of 1024×768 or less, and web developers are starting to ignore you more and more, so just as with IE users, it’s time to move on!

SEoF on March 19, 2012 at 2:24 am

How did the vampire slayer get a horse?

Nog going to say on March 19, 2012 at 2:38 am

@Not going to say
Have you ever seen a vampire slayer without an horse?
Also, once you become a vampire slayer,an happy horse magically appears.

Happy Vampire on March 19, 2012 at 8:38 pm

Very cool! I especially like the idea of roadblocks and barricades. could they be upgradeable, like form boxes to sandbags to roadblock?

Brenkie on March 20, 2012 at 11:17 am

hey did any one notice the sniper on top of the building just look up and the to the left of the Machine gunner
